INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS

Every year HTI welcomes players from various countries around the world. The multi-national aspect of our program has always been an important feature of the overall experience our players gain while playing for the Stars. As much as our international players benefit from playing hockey and studying in Canada, our Canadian players value the friendships and the hockey experience they gain from living and training with peers from around the world.

Our history of working with international players goes many years back and is also based on the personal experience of HTI’s president – Jenya Feldman. Having gone through the process of coming to Canada from Russia at the age of 17 to pursue a career in hockey, Jenya has been passing on his knowledge to players from around the world for the past 23 years. It is important to understand the specific needs of the young athletes coming from different cultures, and knowing their mentality helps to ensure a quicker integration of those players into the Canadian style of hockey and everyday life.

Information is everything! We stress the importance of having the right information about the process of advancing through the hockey ranks, as well as the different options for leagues and levels available to the players in North America. It is hard to pursue a goal if you do not know what your goal is! Our coaching staff take the time to go over the details of hockey in North America with each player and her/his parents.

Visa Services

Our administration staff members have the knowledge and the experience to guide you through the process of obtaining the proper immigration documents required for entry into Canada. Whichever country you might be coming from, either you might need a Visitor’s Visa or a Student Permit, you can turn to us for assistance. You will be provided with the necessary letters and documentation needed during this process.

International Success

Over the past few years, we have been fortunate enough to work with athletes from countries like USA, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, France, Italy, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Australia and Mexico. Many of those players represent their countries’ national teams while competing in international competitions, including World Championships and the Olympics. We continue to put a lot of effort into our international recruiting by running selection camps in different countries and attending various tournaments and championships.
